2018 Annual Conference co-hosted with IMPLAN in Kansas City, Missouri

The Mid-Continent Regional Science Association will be holding the 2018 annual conference in Kansas City, Missouri, June 6-8, 2018 at the Intercontinental Kansas City at the Plaza hotel. In 2018, we will again co-host our meeting with the biennial IMPLAN National User’s Conference.

The hotel has just completed a $17 million renovation. It is located at the Country Club Plaza offering a wide variety of dining and entertainment choices. The conference offers a stimulating mix of practitioners and academics, many of whom report a more satisfying professional learning experience with the diversity of offerings available.

Expanded IMPLAN Training at the 2018 Conference
As has been the case for the last several MCRSA/IMPLAN conferences, IMPLAN will again offer a reduced-cost two-day training for new IMPLAN users on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 5-6. The cost is $1,350 for those seeking the training only, and $1,000 for those who register for the entire conference.
In addition, On Wednesday, June 6, IMPLAN will offer a half-day Advanced Workshop to cover topics related Multi-Regional Input-Output (MIRO) modeling and Trade Flow Data. Also covered will be discussion of Interpreting the Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) and using SAM data.

 

The Journal of Regional Analysis & Policy Names New Editor

The MCRSA Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Dr. Joshua Hall has been named the new Editor-in-Chief of the Association’s journal. The Journal of Regional Analysis & Policy (JRAP). Josh is currently a faculty member of the Economics Department at West Virginia University. He begins his new duties effective January 1, 2018.

The MCRSA Board commends outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Richard Cebula, who served for over nine years. During his tenure, Richard was responsible for an unprecedented rise in the number and quality of Journal submissions and the steady rise of the Journal’s Impact Factor.

We hope to see Richard at many upcoming MCRSA conferences, and welcome Josh.

The MCRSA has created a member listserv for the purpose of discussing important Association business and providing you an opportunity to disseminate information you believe to be on interest to members.
